Walkers Guide to Food

There are many walks within the vicinity of Keswick which take in the delights of a good pub or cafe en route. Below are a few examples which we have all taken advantage of, usually at the end of a gruelling hike!

Before setting off on your trip pop into Brysons bakery on the main street to stock up on sandwiches, pies, cakes and drinks (if you here on a Saturday try the cake stall at the Market in the town Square, opposite Woolworths)

Shepherds Caff, Borrowdale Valley - Legendery cafe set under Sheperds Crag (beside Borrowdale Hotel). Great basic food at fantastic prices. Stuff your face for a fiver! Great views and a fine way to spend a few hours of the day!

The Langstrath, Stonethwaite, Borrowdale - A great choice of high quality dishes (ie. duck, local lamb, Borrowdale trout, homemade produce etc) - www.thelangstrath.com

Swinside Bar, Swinside, Newlands - Panoramic views of Newlands valley. Nice old beamed pub. Good food and drink

Coledale Inn, Braithwaite - Sits at the bottom of the Coledale Horseshoe. Good place to start or end your walk

Flock Inn, Rosthwaite, Borrowdale - If its good enough for Prince Charles its good enough for us! Fantastic food in beautiful setting

If you own or know of a great stop-off point for food and drink please email us at food@dokeswick.com
