Walking Guide to Keswick and The Lake District
Keswick
and the Northern Lake District fells are renowned as a centre
of excellence for walkers and hikers. From flat strolls along
the old railway line, over the beautiful bridges and past the
meandering River Derwent, to gruelling hikes over some of the
toughest (and highest) fells in England the area has something
for everyone.
By kind permission of walking guide Paul Buttle we have listed
varying degrees of walks (these
are only a few examples). There is a local travel
section which gives bus (and launch) routes and timetables. We
also have a guide to places to eat while out on your day trip.
There is a weather forecast
and weathercams, showing live views of different areas in Borrowdale
valley.
Please be careful of the changing Lake District weather conditions.
The weather on the fell tops can be very harsh compared to the
valleys. Please take the correct clothing with you, a map, water
and food. For fell top walking weather information call the Lake
District National Park weatherline on 017687

Have a browse through the views
to see mountain top virtual
tours from around the area. There are photographs by local
photographers and live webcams from Keswick and Borrowdale.
