Travel to Keswick by CarBy
Car: Keswick is very easy to reach by car:From
the South: Head through the beautiful Southern lakes via Kendal, Windermere,
Ambleside and Grasmere (A591). This route meanders through these lovely Lakeland
towns and villages, past Lake Windermere, Rydal, Grasmere and Thirlmere (great
places for a picnic!) before you drop down the spectacular hill into Keswick town.
Breathtaking scenery though can be slow.Alternatively,
head on the M6 motorway to the Penrith turnoff (junction 41). Turn left at the
main roundabout and follow the road for 15 miles until you see signs for Keswick.
Nice gateway into the Lake District and one of the best panormaics of the Northern
fells from Troutbeck. Not as pretty as the Lakeland route but quick and easy! From
the North: Turn into Carlisle and head for Dalston. Follow the road over Caldbeck
common, dropping steeply down into the pretty village of Uldale, then to onto
the A591 at Castle Inn. Drive takes you past Bassenthwaite (village and lake),
Mirehouse, Applethwaite and into Keswick at Crosthwaite.Alternatively,
again head on the M6 down to Penrith turnoff at Junction 41. Turn right at the
roundabout and head along the A66 to Keswick (15 miles). Try
