Lake District Osprey Project
Overlooking
Bassenthwaite Lake and Skiddaw, wild ospreys have made their home
and produced chicks there for only the second time in 150 years.
Though Osprey Watch 2002 is now officially over, there will
be a new update in Spring of 2003. The Osprey Watch website contains
amazing live webcam footage of the Osprey's nest where you can
watch the development of the chicks.
The official lookout point from where to see the Ospreys is
Dodd Wood near Mirehouse (en route to Bassenthwaite from Keswick).
Though now closed it will be reopening next Spring.
The Whinlatter information centre has some excellent information
regarding the Ospreys. Please contact them on 017687 78469
or call into the centre to speak to the knowledgeable staff.
